On the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomatic Forum, President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova met with the President of TIKA, Abdullah Eren, and confirmed the excellent cooperation and strong Macedonian-Turkish partnership.
The President thanked TIKA for its continuous and significant support, which has made a visible and lasting contribution to several sectors with over 1,300 implemented projects: education, health, cultural heritage and infrastructure.
For her, assistance in the health sector is particularly important, especially the investment in modern medical equipment for the Radiotherapy and Oncology Clinic, which contributes to the improvement of public health, as well as last year’s donation to the Hydrobiological Institute in Ohrid.
Siljanovska-Davkova emphasized the important role of the Turkish community in the Macedonian society, whose identity rights are not only constitutionally guaranteed, but also largely exercised. Both agreed that there is a willingness to overcome the problems related to education in the mother tongue of Turks. According to the President, they are not the result of systemic policy, but of local level weaknesses.
The interlocutors expressed readiness to deepen and expand Macedonian-Turkish cooperation through new specific projects with TIKA.
