During her working visit to Brussels, President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova met today with Gert Jan Koopman, Director-General of the Directorate-General for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR).
The discussion focused on the operational and technical aspects of the accession process, opportunities to accelerate European integration and specific mechanisms for making progress amidst political blockades.
Siljanovska-Davkova emphasized the need to examine the Union’s available institutional and legal instruments to identify specific steps that would allow the process to move forward, based on reform achievements and fulfilled criteria, regardless of bilateral blockades imposed by member states.
She stressed the importance of ensuring that technical preparedness and implemented reforms are duly recognized, and that the European perspective is transformed into a predictable process with clear steps and measurable results.
