After today’s visit to the fire zone in Negotino and a meeting with members of the Army near the Pepeliste military training ground, this afternoon the General Staff of the Army informed President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova that the fight against the fire continues in which members of the Army, in coordination with all involved state entities, are engaged on several locations, primarily on Mount Serta, and this afternoon a team will go to Radovish, as well as a team in the area of the villages Dragoevo and Strkalevo towards Krivolak.
So far, the Army is operating with 100 members of the 2nd Infantry Battalion and with two MI-8/17 army helicopters that are engaged on locations according to the guidelines of the Crisis Management Center.
In addition, on the first day of the Army’s activities, 44 tons of water were thrown out, yesterday 17 flights with 34 tons of water and today until this moment 28 flights and 52 tons of water were thrown out. The Macedonian forces operate in this area with the help of the aircraft of Turkey, Serbia and Montenegro.
Army members remain on the ground where, in cooperation with government institutions, they will continue to fight against the threat to the lives of citizens and the public good.
During the operations, which the members of the Army carry out in an extremely professional, courageous and self-sacrificing manner, all procedures and measures for safety and personal protection prescribed according to the fire-fighting training that all members undergo as part of the regular training are respected.
