On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Hungarian Revolution, President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova attended a working lunch in Budapest, hosted by the President of Hungary, Andras Baka, for the heads of delegations.

She congratulated him on his election as President in August this year and expressed a readiness to deepen Macedonian-Hungarian relations through political dialogue, exchange of visits and enhancement of economic cooperation.

Siljanovska-Davkova expressed gratitude for Hungary’s principled and vocal support for the Macedonian European integration, as well as for its active engagement within the Visegrad Group. She emphasized the necessity for a credible enlargement process based on merit, in line with the Copenhagen criteria.

Furthermore, both discussed current geopolitical challenges and the need to strengthen multilateralism as a mechanism for building strong institutions – one that would allow small states greater participation in decision-making processes regarding global issues.

The President expressed her views on the need for deep reform within international organizations, a shift from reactive to preventive diplomacy as a prerequisite for effectively addressing the global crisis, and the necessity of expanding the European Union to include the countries of the Western Balkans.
