On the sidelines of the South East European Cooperation Process (SEECP) Summit in Sofia, President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova met with Albulena Haxhiu, Acting President of the Republic of Kosovo.
At the meeting, both expressed their readiness to advance Macedonian-Kosovo relations in the interest of stability and the European future of the region.
Siljanovska-Davkova congratulated the successful conduct of the parliamentary elections in Kosovo.
She expressed support for Kosovo’s Euro-Atlantic aspirations and readiness to share Macedonian experiences and expertise.
The President stressed that we will continue to support NATO’s open door policy, as well as Kosovo’s aspirations for membership in regional and international organizations and initiatives.
Siljanovska-Davkova expressed satisfaction with the successful implementation of the “One-Stop Shop” at the Blace and Jazince border crossings.
According to her, greater use of European funds is needed to modernize the border infrastructure and open new border crossings.
Regarding security issues, Siljanovska-Davkova reaffirmed her support for the Pristina-Belgrade dialogue, mediated by the European Union.
According to her, such an approach and reconciliation represent the only sustainable path to stability, security and cooperation in the Western Balkans.
Both agreed that Macedonian-Kosovo economic cooperation is making continuous progress, and Kosovo remains one of our most important trading partners.
