President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova received Stojan Nikolov, Vice President of the United Macedonian Diaspora (UMD).

The meeting discussed the importance of relations between the diaspora and the home country, with a special emphasis on strengthening cultural, economic and educational ties.

President Siljanovska-Davkova expressed support, respect and gratitude for the activities of the UMD in promoting and preserving the Macedonian identity and culture around the world.

President Siljanovska-Davkova stressed the commitment to the diaspora and the opportunities for opening new horizons for cooperation and development, which will contribute to strengthening the Macedonian presence and influence globally.

In that context, President Siljanovska-Davkova presented her commitment to establishing a National Council for Cooperation with the Diaspora, which will work to coordinate, specify and deepen ties with the diaspora in search of the best solutions for its inclusion in the scientific, educational, cultural, economic and other development of the country. President Siljanovska-Davkova expressed her desire and readiness to include young people from the diaspora in the work of the Youth Council.

She emphasized the importance of the diaspora for the Macedonian national fabric, as its inseparable part, ambassador to the United States and its political institutions, lobbyist for the Macedonian cause and promoter of national tradition.

At the meeting, support was expressed for the implementation of projects that will strengthen the country’s ties with its diaspora, focusing on a common vision for the future in which Macedonians, no matter where they live, will be united around the efforts to promote the common culture, language and identity and the development of the common country.
