The President of the Republic of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, visited today Makedonska Kamenica, on the occasion of three important events for this city. The Miners’ Day in the eastern part of the state, which has been celebrated for 56 years and today’s great Christian holiday, Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God who is the patron saint of miners.
Today’s holiday, as President Pendarovski said, is an occasion for huge gatherings. And, this one in Makedonska Kamenica, as the President pointed out, “is one of the most beautiful”.
At the same time, as Mayor Sonja Stamenkova informed, August 28th since 1996 is also celebrated as the Day of the Municipality of Makedonska Kamenica.
President Pendarovski noted that “it is always nice to be in a city like Makedonska Kamenica, a city that is vibrant and has beautiful nature”.
Congratulating them the holiday, President Pendarovski, in the city center, talked with the citizens who prepared dinner for that day. In the spirit of celebration, President Pendarovski had the opportunity to try homemade brandy.
In the beekeepers’ park, the honey producers informed President Pendarovski that besides mining, beekeeping has become a feature of Makedonska Kamenica, since in the last two or three years the honey from the eastern part of North Macedonia is highly demanded both at the domestic and foreign markets.
President Pendarovski also took the opportunity today to congratulate Antonio Samardziski, who was named the best miner this year by the SASA mine staff. During the meeting with the miners, President Pendarovski congratulated them the holiday and wished them to continue to work safely and to return safely to their loved ones.
