President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova received today in a farewell meeting in Ohrid the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkiye, Fatih Ulusoy, whom she thanked for his personal contribution to the advancement of the Macedonian-Turkish relations.
At the beginning of the meeting, Siljanovska-Davkova expressed her condolences for the tragic maritime accident of the passenger ship sailing between Northern Cyprus and Mersin, in which eight people lost their lives and dozens are missing.
For her, Turkiye is not only our important economic and strategic partner, but also a proven friend.
According to Ulusoy, during these two years, bilateral relations have gained new momentum and importance through: reciprocal visits by the highest state representatives and active political dialogue, crowned with the establishment of the High-Level Cooperation Council, a series of joint activities in defense and economy, as well as development projects supported by TIKA.
Siljanovska-Davkova pointed out the need to update the Free Trade Agreement.
Stressing the significance of the Turkish community in the Macedonian society, she agreed that realistic solutions are needed for adequate and equitable representation of the members of the Turkish community at local and central levels, increased use of the Turkish language, as well as greater educational opportunities.
She wished Ambassador Ulusoy good health, personal happiness and success in his future professional engagements.
