At the People’s Office in Skopje, President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova held meetings with citizens who wished to share personal challenges and successes directly with her and her Cabinet, to express critical views regarding certain phenomena, institutions, and practices, as well as to offer praise and support and to present ideas and initiatives aimed at addressing observed institutional inconsistencies and anomalies, or at further improving areas that are functioning well.

Some of the visitors highlighted difficulties and injustices encountered in their attempts for employment, citing instances where professional expertise and competence were undervalued while family, political, and party affiliations were prioritized. Others pointed to the neglect of the specific needs of persons with disabilities, inadequate care and their exclusion from decision-making processes. A third group noted the frequent lack of interest shown by state and local authorities in utilizing knowledge and expertise gained abroad.

After listening to the citizens alongside her associates, Siljanovska-Davkova welcomed their visit and explained the scope of the President’s powers. She also outlined her Cabinet’s role in informing the relevant authorities about the proposals, ideas and initiatives received, as well as in forwarding citizens’ petitions to the competent bodies. She also shared her views and perspectives regarding the issues raised and potential solutions thereto.

At the end, she and the members of the Cabinet highlighted the openness and accessibility of the People’s Office for convening a broader debate on the problems and issues that concern them.
