The President and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova, received today the Chief of Defence of the Federal Republic of Germany, General Carsten Breuer.
Siljanovska-Davkova said that General Breuer’s visit is yet another confirmation of NATO’s commitment to regional stability. According to her, the alliance with Germany enables the construction of a resilient and interoperable defence system.
For General Breuer, the two-day visit is an excellent opportunity, in addition to talks with members of the Army, to hold meetings with the state leadership, in order to strengthen unity in the Alliance and promote German-Macedonian relations.
He assessed the Macedonian Army as a credible ally, emphasizing that the Macedonian soldiers participate side by side with their colleagues from NATO member states in joint missions and activities.
The interlocutors agreed that, in addition to defence cooperation, both countries have the potential to deepen economic, educational and cultural ties.
Siljanovska-Davkova pointed to the role of the Macedonian diaspora in Germany as an important factor in deepening bilateral relations.
She praised the continued German support for the Macedonian reform processes and the country’s infrastructural development.
