1 October 2026 | Press Releases

President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova met today with representatives of the National Prayer Breakfast, an event dedicated to understanding, forgiveness, reconciliation and unity through shared prayer. President Eisenhower first attended the prayer breakfast in Washington in 1953.

Siljanovska-Davkova highlighted the event’s special role in awakening and upholding human dignity, responsibility and respect for others in an era marked by division, mistrust, conflict and the erosion of law, ethics and morality.

For her, the enduring nature of and interest in the National Prayer Breakfast demonstrate that, despite political and religious differences, dialogue can bring people together.

She recalled the figure of former President Boris Trajkovski and his commitment to reconciliation.

The representatives of the National Prayer Breakfast and the President exchanged views on the regional situation in the context of European integration, as well as on the history of Macedonian-American relations and the current strategic partnership. Siljanovska-Davkova highlighted the unsustainability of EU institutions tolerating violations of fundamental principles and values guaranteed under international and European law by member states, citing the example of Macedonia’s European integration process.

According to the participants in the dialogue, the determination of both the United States and Macedonia to advance their bilateral relations is evident.

For everyone, dialogue must take precedence over confrontation, tolerance over intolerance and peace over war.
