On the occasion of International Education Day, President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova received Ile Mihajlovski, a classroom teacher at the “Ss. Cyril and Methodius” Primary School in Sveti Nikole.
Mihajlovski was selected among 50 finalists out of a total of 5,000 nominated teachers from 89 countries around the world for the prestigious 2025 Global Teacher Prize, which is awarded by the Varkey Foundation from London, with the support from UNESCO and the company GEMS Education.
The teacher introduced President Siljanovska-Davkova to his application and selection procedures, as well as his three-decade-long work and role in and outside of school, through the development of teaching adapted for students with disabilities, support for children at social risk, children without parental care and in foster families.
Congratulating Mihajlovski, President Siljanovska-Davkova assessed that the selection among the 50 finalists represents a huge recognition and legitimacy for his continuous work, application of innovative methods and significant successes achieved in the educational process.
She welcomed Mihajlovski’s overall humanitarian work, including the support of the educational process of children-oncology patients, as well as his commitment to environmental protection through the implementation of a number of projects together with students.
The President expressed expectation that Mihajlovski, with his comprehensive investment in the profession, with his vision for a positive impact on the environment, will continue to be an example and inspiration for every individual.
The interlocutors also exchanged opinions on the situation and challenges in primary education, as well as on the possibilities for evaluating teaching staff.
