President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova awarded today the “Boris Trajkovski” scholarships for the academic 2024/2025 to 20 best students who will continue their education at CITY College University of York Europe Campus in Thessaloniki, Greece.
In her address at the event, President Siljanovska Davkova said that studying at CITY College University of York, Europe Campus in Thessaloniki is a real intellectual and life challenge for every young person determined to deepen knowledge, broaden horizons beyond the homeland, to compete and make friends with young people from different countries and cultures, to learn from eminent professors, to improve and ennoble.
“Continue the mission of President Trajkovski in building understanding, friendship, good neighborliness and cooperation, in this case through educational, scientific and cultural diplomacy between the two countries. Prove that education and knowledge bring together, not divide”, the President said.
The President told the scholarship winners that a double degree as a crown of successful studies will make them more self-confident, will increase their self-esteem and open many doors for professional engagement and encourage educational mobility.
“I am sure that you are not chosen for these scholarships by chance but you deserve them. I believe and wish that you will be an example for future students as President Trajkovski was and remains an inspiring example of a political leader with dignity, integrity and spiritual depth!”, President Siljanovska Davkova said.
Greeting the scholarship recipients, the Minister of Education and Science, Vesna Janevska, said that the “Boris Trajkovski” scholarship is a good opportunity for students to receive a double degree: from the University of York and from the University of Strasbourg, and during their study stays in Great Britain, France and Greece to be part of new, dynamic environments, to learn, but also to socialize with young people who come from different cultures, creating lasting friendships.
“As a country, we support educational mobility and the policies of the European Union to deal with the brain drain, and the Government, through a multi-sectoral approach, creates measures and activities to reduce the leaving of the personnel we need”, Minister Janevska said.
Welcoming the scholars to CITY College University of York, Europe Campus, Principal Yannis Ververidis said that the Executive MBA is an international program, delivered by high-caliber international professors, aimed at improving and developing their leadership and management skills.
“Our goal is to offer you a unique international educational experience that will allow you to achieve and thrive in the global environment and make a difference in the society and economy of your country and the entire region, contributing to the public good”, Principal Ververidis said.
The “Boris Trajkovski” scholarships for second-cycle studies of the executive MBA program have been awarded since 2003. So far 297 scholarships have been awarded. The awarding of these scholarships is the result of the successful cooperation between the President, the Ministry of Education and Science, the International Foundation “Boris Trajkovski” and CITY College in Thessaloniki. This year’s the scholarship winners will earn two Master of Business Administration degrees from the University of York, United Kingdom, and the University of Strasbourg, France.
