President Stevo Pendarovski, as part of his participation in the UN General Assembly, presented the United Nations with the Order of the Republic of North Macedonia yesterday afternoon in New York.
President Pendarovski presented the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres with the award, which is given as a recognition for the great help and support of the UN in dealing with the consequences of the catastrophic Skopje earthquake and for the invaluable contribution to the reconstruction of the city of Skopje, which has grown into a city of solidarity and real a symbol of friendship between nations.
President Pendarovski also had a meeting with the Secretary General of the UN, Antonio Guterres, where they discussed the overall activities of the Republic of North Macedonia within the framework of the United Nations, as well as the role of the organization in dealing with global challenges.
President Pendarovski thanked the UN for its commitment to our country and expressed the expectation that the cooperation will continue with increasing intensity in the future. He emphasized that the continued engagement of the UN in North Macedonia contributes to strengthening the country’s capacity in key sectors for the development of Macedonian society.
At the meeting, opinions and information were exchanged about the course of our European integration, about the current political and security situation in the region, as well as about the Russian military aggression against Ukraine. President Pendarovski emphasized our strong commitment and dedication to strengthening the role of the UN in dealing with global challenges.
