The President of the Republic of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, received today the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Kingdom of Norway, Admiral Haakun Bruun-Hanssen.

At the meeting, they exchanged views on the overall cooperation between North Macedonia and Norway, especially on the bilateral military cooperation. The interlocutors concluded that the future membership of North Macedonia in NATO opens new opportunities for expanding the partnership between the two countries’ armies.

President Pendarovski expressed his gratitude for Norway’s support to North Macedonia’s NATO membership aspirations, confirmed by the Norwegian Parliament’s ratification of the Accession Protocol of North Macedonia to NATO in June.

President Pendarovski voiced expectation that the ratification will be completed in all member states in the coming period and that by the end of this year North Macedonia will become a full-fledged NATO member.

North Macedonia, President Pendarovski said at the meeting, with its contribution to the NATO’s peacekeeping missions, is an active supporter of peace on a global level and its membership in NATO has long been deserved.

With full-fledged membership of North Macedonia in NATO, President Pendarovski said at the meeting, one of the key strategic commitments of the state will be completed, which will contribute to its overall development.
