President Stevo Pendarovski welcomed today in Ohrid, the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, Josep Borrell, the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, in Ohrid, in the presidential Villa “Biljana” for a working session of the negotiations within the high-level Belgrade-Pristina dialogue under the EU auspices.
President Pendarovski believes that it is extremely important that this working session of the high-level dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina takes place in Ohrid, because it is a sign that the Republic of North Macedonia has shown atypical Balkan behavior in the past years and functions as a true multi-ethnic democracy, which is a rarity even in wider frameworks. We perceive this as a recognition of what has been achieved in the past period and an incentive for domestic political forces to continue with European reforms, so that we can become a full and formal member of the European Union as soon as possible.
The negotiations between Belgrade and Pristina are an extremely important regional issue, the solution of which can help for permanent stabilization of the region and its faster European and Euro-Atlantic integration.
