The President of the Republic of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, on the occasion of May 23, National Day of the Vlachs, sent a congratulation message to all members of the Vlach community in the Republic of North Macedonia.
Respected fellow citizens,
Let me congratulate you on May 23, National Day of the Vlachs, and wish you to spend the holiday, above all, in good health, filled with joy and happiness.
It was on this day, 116 years ago, that the Vlachs were first recognized as a people in the then Ottoman Empire and were given the opportunity for education and worship in their mother tongue. Nurturing ethnic, linguistic and cultural identity is a continuous process that never ends. We are proud that the characteristics, traditions and customs of the Vlachs are deeply woven into our multicultural and multiethnic society. The Republic of North Macedonia will continue to zealously, as for all ethnic communities, affirm and promote the Vlach history and culture.
Dear fellow citizens,
Every one of our citizens, as every person around the world, has been facing the danger of Covid-19 for more than a year, fearing for his own life and the life and health of his loved ones. With the beginning of mass immunization in our country, the end of the pandemic is finally looming. Let us continue to be responsible and disciplined, in solidarity and commitment, and return to normal everyday life as soon as possible.
Congratulations on May 23, National Day of the Vlachs.
