The President of the Republic of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, sent a congratulation note to the citizens on the occasion of October 23 – the Day of the Macedonian Revolutionary Struggle.
Distinguished fellow citizens,
Let me congratulate you October 23 – the Day of the Macedonian Revolutionary Struggle. The founding of the Macedonian Revolutionary Organization 126 years ago laid the foundations of the organized revolutionary struggle for freedom and creation of an independent Macedonian state. It took years of continuous struggle, suffering, heroism and disobedience; it took Ilinden 1903 and ASNOM 1944, the Referendum of September 8, 1991, to finally create a state. We, today’s generations, enjoy the results of the revolutionary struggle – we live in freedom, in our own independent state.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Every time brings opportunities and temptations. Each generation has its own challenges and goals. Our challenge is to make the Republic of North Macedonia prosperous and respected, democratic and modern. We need tolerance in our relationships, respect for others, responsibility for the community, care for the environment and support for our close. We need unity regardless of ethnic, religious, political or any affiliation. We must not be discouraged by any interference and disturbances. We know our path and we continue along that path together.
Congratulations on October 23!
President of the Republic of North Macedonia
