President Pendarovski meets with marathon runner Dario Ivanovski

President Stevo Pendarovski met today in the Skopje city park with the marathon runner Dario Ivanovski, who set a new Macedonian record a few days ago at the marathon in Seville, Spain, as well as with his coach and manager, Igor Jakimovski and the athlete Zan Tosev.

President Pendarovski congratulated Ivanovski for the extraordinary result and the success achieved, thus achieving the norm and will be able to run in the half marathon discipline at the European Athletics Championships in Rome, which will be held from 7 to 12 June this year.

Ivanovski informed President Pendarovski of the course of his preparations ahead of the upcoming European Championship, as well as the possibility in Rome to provide a standard for performance at this year’s Summer Olympic Games in Paris.

Pointing out that the successes of Macedonian athletes represent great pride for the entire nation, President Pendarovski wished Dario Ivanovski success in his future career and said that with persistence, desire and strong will, even the biggest challenges can be overcome.

Dario Ivanovski ran the marathon race in Seville in 2 hours 8 minutes and 25 seconds which is a new national record, improving his previous record by 3 and a half minutes. With this result, Ivanovski came just 15 seconds closer to the Olympic norm of 2 hours 8 minutes and 10 seconds and climbed high on the world ranking list through which he can ensure participation in the Olympics in Paris.
