President Stevo Pendarovski received Today Johann Wadephul, deputy chairman of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group and head of the German delegation in the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.
The interlocutors at the meeting discussed the current political developments in the country in the context of the Macedonian aspirations for membership in the European Union, as well as the situation in the wider region. In that context, President Pendarovski expressed his expectation for further strong German support for the process of accession to the European Union and pointed out that the acceleration of the integration processes is in the interest of the political, security and economic stability of the entire region and the European continent.
President Pendarovski and Wadephul emphasized the need for implementation of essential reforms in all spheres of importance for the smooth progress of accession negotiations. At the meeting, the bilateral relations between North Macedonia and Germany and the partnership in NATO were discussed, during which it was stated that the two countries continuously build friendly and partnership relations and maintain an intense political dialogue.
