In the Cabinet of the President of the Republic of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, a leadership meeting was held today, attended by presidents and representatives of the parliamentary political parties from the government and the opposition who won parliamentary seats with independent lists in the last parliamentary elections, as well as the Speaker of the Parliament, Talat Xhaferi and Prime Minister Oliver Spasovski.

The meeting of was attended by Zoran Zaev and Ljupco Nikolovski from SDSM, Hristijan Mickoski and Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova from VMRO-DPMNE, Bujar Osmani and Izet Medziti from DUI, Ziadin Sela and Arben Taravari from the Alliance for Albanians, Afrim Gashi and Skender Rexhepi from the Alternative, Bilal Kasami and Arjanit Hoxha from the Movement Besa and Orhan Ibrahimi and Frumizim Dauti from DPA.

The consensus was reached at the meeting that early parliamentary elections scheduled for April 12, due to the situation with the coronavirus COVID-19, should be postponed.

The attendees authorized President Stevo Pendarovski to immediately convene a meeting with prominent legal experts to find a legal modality to postpone the election. The meeting is to take place today at 4 p.m. in Villa Vodno and will be attended by the Professors Renata Deskoska, Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova, Denis Preshova, Tatjana Karakamisheva-Jovanovska, Jeton Shasivari, Svetomir Skaric and Aleksandar Spasov. Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi and Prime Minister Oliver Spasovski will also attend the meeting.
