President Stevo Pendarovski received today Michael Linhart, Federal Minister for European and International Affairs of the Republic of Austria.
At the meeting, opinions were exchanged on the overall bilateral relations between the two countries, and it was assessed that North Macedonia and Austria nurture traditional ties and friendship with open and intensive dialogue, with interest in further enhancing relations and deepening cooperation.
In the context of the aspirations of the Republic of North Macedonia for membership in the European Union, President Pendarovski expressed gratitude for the continuous, open and strong support from the Republic of Austria for the immediate start of accession negotiations for membership.
President Pendarovski stressed that our country continues with the implementation of the domestic reform agenda, with a focus on the rule of law, strengthening the efficiency and impartiality of the judiciary and the fight against corruption. President Pendarovski reaffirmed the expectation of unblocking the integration path, which is in the interest of stability and progress of the entire region.
President Pendarovski thanked for the support from Austria for our country in dealing with the consequences of the pandemic, and especially for the coordination of the process of distribution of vaccines from the European Union.
At the meeting, opinions were exchanged on economic cooperation and trade, and it was assessed that there are potentials for increasing the overall trade, given that Austria is at the top of the list of foreign investors in North Macedonia.
