President Stevo Pendarovski will participate in the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly, which begins today – 15 September 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year the session takes place virtually, without the physical presence of world leaders at the United Nations headquarters in New York.
On Friday, 18 September 2020, President Pendarovski will address the high-level meeting “SDG Moment 2020” via video message, which is planned to review the implementation progress of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals globally and regionally, in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. The meeting is expected to include 20 heads of state and government. President Pendarovski, together with the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, is one of the two heads of state and official representatives of the Eastern European Group who will take part in this high-level meeting.
On Monday, 21 September 2020, President Pendarovski will address a special high-level event on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations on the topic: “The Future We Want, the United Nations We Need: Reaffirming our Collective Commitment to Multilateralism”.
On Wednesday, 23 September 2020, President Pendarovski will address the General Debate during the 75th United Nations General Assembly via video message. The video message will be broadcast in the UN General Assembly hall, where representatives of each of the member states will be present. The topic of the 75th session of the UN General Assembly is “The Future We Want, the United Nations We Need: Reaffirming Our Collective Commitment to Multilateralism – Confronting COVID-19 through Effective Multilateral Action”.
On Thursday, 1 October 2020, President Pendarovski will address a high-level meeting on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women, which will be held on “Accelerating the Realization of Gender Equality and Empowerment of All Women and Girls”
