The President of the Republic of North Macedonia and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Stevo Pendarovski, based on Article 18, paragraph 1, point 5 and Article 28 of the Law on Defense, as well as the general order to deploy part of the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia in peacetime conditions, i.e. in conditions when no crisis, state of emergency or war is declared, ordered the Army to deploy part of its forces and resources as unarmed forces to perform tasks to support state institutions in dealing with the consequences of the corona virus pandemic.
With this order, which enters into force immediately, part of the resources and funds of the Army will be engaged as unarmed forces to perform tasks to support state institutions in dealing with the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to the order of President Pendarovski, the General Staff of the Army will deploy forces and means for medical support of the work of the health institutions and centers of the Ministry of Health, transport of protective and medical means and equipment.
The Army will also assist in providing warehouse for storage of protective and medical devices and equipment, setting up tents and other accommodation facilities intended for the treatment of infected persons, as well as for disinfection of premises and surfaces.
In order to carry out these tasks, the General Staff of the Army is obliged to prepare the medical, transport and ABHO forces of the Army for their deployment.
The Army of the Republic of North Macedonia, in the past on the same legal basis was engaged in dealing with the consequences of natural disasters and supporting state institutions in peacetime conditions.
