The President of the Republic of North Macedonia, Mr. Stevo Pendarovski, today, within the official visit to the Republic of Slovenia, met with the President of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia, Marjan Sharec.
At the meeting, they exchanged views on the bilateral relations between the two countries, characterized by trust, friendship and solid partnership, and discussed the possibilities for enhancing cooperation between the Republic of North Macedonia and the Republic of Slovenia, as well as on the latest developments and challenges in the region and in the Balkans.
President Pendarovski expressed hope that the long-standing open and unreserved support from the Republic of Slovenia will continue in the future. In this context, the President expressed expectation that the Republic of North Macedonia will become a NATO member soon and start accession negotiations for EU membership. President Pendarovski expressed his gratitude for the overall support of Slovenia so far for our Euro-Atlantic integration process.
The interlocutors concluded that the progress of the Republic of North Macedonia in the EU and NATO will positively affect the stability and prosperity of the entire region.
The meeting also exchanged views on the challenges of illegal migration and noted the need the ongoing successful cooperation to continue in the future, aimed at greater regional stability and security.
Joint statement of both interlocutors was that in the future, the efforts should be directed towards intensifying the economic cooperation and trade through closer cooperation of business communities and encouraging investments from both countries.
