President Pendarovski meets with Archbishop Cyril Vasil, Slovak Ambassador Henrik Markus, President of the Slovak Episcopal Conference, Frantisek Rabek, and Macedonian literary translator and bibliographer, Stojan Lekoski

President Stevo Pendarovski received today the Archbishop Cyril Vasil, Administrator of the Diocese of Kosice, Henrik Markus, Ambassador of the Slovak Republic to the Republic of North Macedonia, Frantisek Rabek, President of the Slovak Episcopal Conference and Stojan Lekoski, a literary translator and bibliographer who has been living and working in Slovakia for more than 15 years.

At the meeting held on the occasion of the promotion of the bibliophilic edition of the Proclamation by Constantine the Philosopher – St. Cyril in Old Slavic, Slovak and Macedonian, on the eve of the celebration of the work of Saints Cyril and Methodius, discussed the importance of nurturing the cultural and spiritual bond between North Macedonia and Slovakia, as a precondition for friendly relations and building mutual respect and understanding.

President Pendarovski expressed satisfaction with the strong political, historical and cultural ties between North Macedonia and Slovakia and stressed that our country highly appreciates the strong commitment and support of Slovakia in terms of our European integration. The President expressed hope for further intensification of cooperation between the two countries in areas of mutual interest.

The interlocutors said that the affirmation and popularization of the modern Macedonian language, literature and culture in Slovakia contributes to the promotion of the friendly relations between the Republic of North Macedonia and the Slovak Republic.
