President Stevo Pendarovski received today James Rubin, Special Envoy and Coordinator for the Global Engagement Center of the US State Department.
At the meeting, efforts and ways to deal with disinformation and their influence on the development of democratic processes at the global level were discussed.
President Pendarovski said that disinformation has the potential to affect major political and civil processes both in our country and in the world, being one of the priority threats to the national security of many countries. In that direction, he emphasized the need for constant investment in resources and skills for their recognition and debunking, as well as designing national strategies for an extensive response to disinformation.
The President stressed North Macedonia’s commitment to continue to work actively to strengthen resistance to disinformation, prevent and reduce harmful impacts, including resistance to disinformation campaigns aimed at inciting anti-Western sentiment among Macedonian citizens, and advocate unclear alternatives of European integrations.
