The President of the Republic of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, received Iskra Stojkovska, Founder and Program Coordinator for Preservation of the Ohrid Region from the Environmental Association Front 21/42. The meeting was also attended by a representative of the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia.
At the meeting, President Pendarovski was briefed on the ongoing mission and activities of the Association in preserving the universal values of the Ohrid region, i.e. the implementation of environmental legislation and promotion of environmental democracy.
President Pendarovski assessed that the attitude towards the environment in North Macedonia marks negative trend for decades, stressing that it is an issue that should not be left to future generations, but requires immediate action, with decisive and concrete measures.
In this regard, the President encouraged both sides to cooperate more intensively, as their common interest is the protection of the cultural heritage of Ohrid and the Ohrid region.
At the same time, President Pendarovski reaffirmed his position that we should all work to preserve Ohrid as a UNESCO city. This, as President Pendarovski emphasized, is a challenge that requires continuous, systematic and uncompromising engagement in which there must be no calculations.
