President Stevo Pendarovski received today Senator Jeanne Shaheen and Senator Peter Welch.
Expressing his satisfaction with the visit to our country, President Pendarovski highlighted the cooperation with the USA so far, confirmed by the 2008 Declaration of Strategic Partnership and Cooperation, as well as the alliance of the two countries within the NATO frameworks.
The meeting discussed the support the US provides to North Macedonia in the implementation of activities aimed at increasing stability and strengthening democratic practices. At the same time, the meeting confirmed the successful cooperation and partnership in the field of defense, especially between the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia and the National Guard of Vermont, the country that Senator Welch represents in the Senate.
The interlocutors also exchanged opinions on the security challenges in the region, but also more widely in Europe and the world in the context of the recent unrest in the north of Kosovo, the Russian aggression in Ukraine, as well as the war in Israel and the Gaza Strip.
President Pendarovski expressed gratitude for the long-term support from the United States for the overall reform processes, stressing that the country will continue to work dedicatedly on the implementation of all necessary reforms with the ultimate goal, membership of North Macedonia in the EU.
