President Stevo Pendarovski received today the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Ivan Korcok.
The friendly relations between the two countries were confirmed at the meeting and it was stressed that in the future the political dialogue and exchange of high-level visits between North Macedonia and Slovakia should be intensified, as soon as the situation with the Covid-19 pandemic allows for that.
President Pendarovski thanked for the strong Slovak support for our European integration.
“We extremely appreciate the strong, continuous and unequivocal support from Slovakia, which is our important partner and supporter of the European integration, a strong partner in NATO, and I hope that our partnership will continue to be nurtured within the European Union”, President Pendarovski said.
The President also expressed interest in intensifying cooperation, especially in the field of economy, which has not reached its real potential, although bilateral trade has grown steadily in the last 5-6 years. In that regard, President Pendarovski expressed the expectation that the investments of Slovak companies in our country will increase, especially after our membership in NATO and the progress made towards the EU.
The meeting also discussed the situation in both countries in relation to the Covid-19 pandemic, and discussed specific challenges that are in the interest of both countries, and are caused by difficult circumstances across the continent. President Pendarovski thanked for the Slovak support and donations in the field of health.
