After the closing of the eminent international festival Struga Poetry Evenings, President Pendarovski received today the Director of the festival, Todorce Tasevski, and the President of the jury for awarding the “Miladinov Brothers” award, Angelina Banovic-Markovska. The meeting was also attended by the young poetess Iva Damjanovski, who won the “Miladinov Brothers” award for 2020 for her collection of poems “Hesitation”.
At the meeting, the Director of this cultural event, Todorce Tasevski, informed President Pendarovski about the events that took place within the 59th edition of the Struga Poetry Evenings, which, due to the COVID-19pandemic this year, had a shortened program. In this regard, as Tasevski pointed out, only domestic poets were present in Struga, while the guests from abroad were represented through video readings. “Following the security protocols, despite the reduced program, this year the Struga Poetry Evenings kept their most important poetic contents”, the Director of the festival Tasevski added.
Congratulating them on their efforts not to interrupt the six-decade tradition of the Struga Poetry Evenings, President Pendarovski stressed that culture and art are more than necessary in times of crisis, such as the current Coronavirus pandemic.
“In the past few months, we have all faced an unusual situation. Most of the events were either postponed or did not take place at all. Therefore, I am glad that such an internationally known and recognized poetry festival managed to maintain its level of quality”, President Pendarovski concluded at the meeting.
