President Stevo Pendarovski received today the President of the Republic of Albania, Ilir Meta, who is paying a visit to the Republic of North Macedonia.
At the meeting, opinions were exchanged on the overall bilateral relations between the two countries, and satisfaction was expressed with their positive development, through constructive cooperation and exchange of visits at the highest level.
The Republic of North Macedonia and the Republic of Albania, it was concluded at the meeting, through the commitment to good neighborly relations, give a strong contribution to the prosperity, stability and security of the region, as well as to its European perspective. Both countries, as NATO allies, also contribute to the defense of the values of the Euro-Atlantic community.
In the context of the aspirations for membership in the European Union, the two presidents noted the need to unblock the process and soon start the accession negotiations of the two countries for membership in the European Union, which, according to them, will have a positive contribution to the overall progress and stability in the region.
President Pendarovski congratulated the Republic of Albania on its election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council in the period 2022-2023.
