President Stevo Pendarovski received today the Swedish Ambassador Kristin Forsgren Bengtsson, who informed him about the decision of the Kingdom of Sweden to apply for NATO membership.
On that occasion, President Pendarovski welcomed this decision of Sweden, characterizing it as a decision of a sovereign state that has the right to do so, and added that our state positions are in support of NATO’s open door policy.
The interlocutors exchanged information regarding the dynamics of the Alliance accession process, with President Pendarovski emphasizing that with Sweden’s full membership in NATO, the excellent bilateral relations will gain even stronger intensity through the future alliance in the Alliance.
