President Stevo Pendarovski received today the US Ambassador to the country, Kate Byrnes.
The meeting discussed the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the dealing of which was also assisted by the US support for the health professionals, as well as for other sectors for the citizens who were affected by the crisis.
The interlocutors also exchanged views on the challenges facing the new government and the need to maintain a national consensus in order to successfully implement the reforms needed to meet our second strategic goal, EU membership, after we became a full member of NATO last spring.
At the same time, Ambassador Byrnes handed over to President Pendarovski a congratulatory message from the US President Donald Trump on the occasion of September 8, the Independence Day, which reads as follows:

This year’s celebrations are taking place against the backdrop of a global pandemic. The United States is proud to be your ally, and we support North Macedonia’s aspirations of deeper European integration and your path to membership in the European Union.”
