President Stevo Pendarovski received today Irene Kelin, President of the National Council of the Federal Parliament of the Swiss Confederation, who is visiting the Republic of North Macedonia.
At the meeting, the friendly relations between North Macedonia and Switzerland were confirmed, which, since the establishment of diplomatic relations, have been firmly established with positive development dynamics, while the interlocutors committed to intensifying the political dialogue, as well as advancing project support for further democratic and economic development of our country.
The interlocutors exchanged opinions on the prospects of bilateral and multilateral cooperation in the coming period, as well as on the challenges of the EU integration process of our country and the Western Balkans as a whole, and, in that context, the importance of regional cooperation for the EU perspective of the region was highlighted.
President Pendarovski, thanking that Switzerland is among the most important bilateral donors in our country, expressed satisfaction with the Swiss strategy for cooperation with North Macedonia 2021-2024, which ensures stable and long-term implementation of project activities in the areas of democratic governance, sustainable economic development, enviroment.
The interlocutors also discussed the economic bilateral relations, where it was emphasized that there are opportunities, potentials and adequate capacities for much more extensive trade exchange and better overall economic cooperation in the future. In that context, opinions and information were exchanged about the economic and energy crisis caused by the war in Ukraine.
