President Stevo Pendarovski signed the Instrument of Accession of the Republic of North Macedonia to NATO, which is the final step for NATO membership.

“With this document, I, as the President of the State, formally declare that the Republic of North Macedonia accedes to the North Atlantic Treaty and in consequence thereof undertakes faithfully to perform and carry out all the stipulations contained therein. Distinguished citizens, this is the last political act for our country to formally enter the NATO Alliance. It was worth investing in because we provide our future generations with greater stability, security and prosperity. Congratulations to all of us”, President Pendarovski said after signing the Instrument of Accession of the Republic of North Macedonia to NATO.

The Instrument of Accession was earlier initialed by Foreign Minister Nikola Dimitrov.

“By signing the document, we deliver on the promise to future generations and the vision of a stable, secure and prosperous Western Balkans. One state is as strong as its army, one state is as strong as its democratic institutions, but one state is as strong as the number of friends it has. With 29 allies, from now on, North Macedonia is stronger and safer than ever. Congratulations Homeland”, Minister Dimitrov said.

Earlier, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg informed the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia that all member states had signed the Accession Protocol and sent an invitation for joining the North Atlantic Treaty.
