President Stevo Pendarovski, today in Berovo, visited the Day Center for people with mental or physical disabilities at the Public Institution Inter-Municipal Center for Social Work, where cabinets for physical and hydro-therapy, as well as a sensory room intended for children and people with autistic spectrum disorders were put into use.
Under the auspices of President Pendarovski, last year the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Republic of North Macedonia provided financial resources in the amount of one million five hundred and forty thousand Denars, intended for the reconstruction of this Day Center, i.e. for equipping the cabinets and the sensory room.
At the Day Care Center, President Pendarovski was introduced to the way the cabinets and the sensory room function, as well as the expectations for their contribution to providing a better service and personal development of the users.
President Pendarovski expressed satisfaction with the successfully implemented project, emphasizing the need for further actualization of the challenges faced by persons with disabilities, as well as continuous improvement of conditions and care for the most vulnerable categories of citizens, with the aim of advancing their rights and dignity. In that context, he expressed his gratitude to the Chinese Embassy for the overall support for the project, which is of exceptional importance for this region.
Earlier, the President visited the Berovo Territorial Fire Fighting Unit where he met with the firefighters and some of the volunteers who participated in dealing with the fires that engulfed the region last year. President Pendarovski was informed about the challenges faced by the firefighters, about the equipment at their disposal, as well as about the capacities and readiness of the firefighting unit to effectively respond to possible disasters in the current period.
President Pendarovski congratulated the firefighters for their professionalism and dedication, expressing gratitude to the volunteers who showed high social responsibility in times of crisis. In that context, the necessity of greater vigilance of the citizens was emphasized, especially in this period of increased risk of fires.
