President Stevo Pendarovski, on the occasion of the celebration of August 2, Ilinden – Republic Day, visited the monastery “St. Prohor Pchinski”, where the first session of the Anti-Fascist Assembly of the People’s Liberation of Macedonia was held and flowers were laid in front of the memorial plaque of ASNOM.
In the monastery “St. Prohor Pchinski”, President Pendarovski was welcomed by the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, after which the two presidents, accompanied by the Bishop of Vranje, Mr. Pahomiye, were given a tour of the monastery complex.
President Pendarovski and President Vucic held a bilateral meeting where the traditionally friendly relations between the two countries were confirmed. In the spirit of good neighborliness, interest was expressed in further deepening of overall cooperation, trade exchange and mutual understanding.
In a statement to the media, President Pendarovski expressed gratitude for the opportunity for our country to celebrate Ilinden at the exact place where the modern Macedonian state was formed.

This should be a good tradition, which will not be interrupted for political, church or any other reasons. I hope that next year we will meet again at this same place, to pay respect to our nation’s greatest”, said President Pendarovski.
