The Wife of the President, Elizabeta Gjorgievska, participated in the panel discussion “Visions and Travels” within the EXPO 2020 Women’s Pavilion in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Thanking for the honor of being part of EXPO 2020 Dubai Women’s Pavilion and the chance to share views on a gender-equitable future, the President’s Wife said it was a great opportunity to hear the challenges of women today and exchange experiences on the necessary steps to improve gender equality and strengthen the role of women.

During the panel discussion, the President’s Wife addressed the challenges women face today, emphasizing the need for joint efforts to foster women leadership. Gjorgievska stressed that it is necessary for women and their needs to be included in policy making and to remove the reasons that hinder and disable gender equality.

Regarding the representation of women in public and political life, Gjorgievska said that North Macedonia has adopted several legal instruments to promote the representation of women. She also pointed out that the country has ratified the Istanbul Convention and that activities are underway for its operationalization in the domestic legislation.

On the sidelines of EXPO 2020 Women’s Pavilion, the President’s Wife met in Dubai with Ohood Khalfan Al-Roumi, Minister of State for Government Development and Innovation of the United Arab Emirates, Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, and with Reem Al Hashimy, Minister of International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates and Chief Executive Officer for Women Pavilion EXPO 2020 Dubai.
