President Pendarovski receives the credentials of the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, Bae Jongin

President Stevo Pendarovski received today the letters of credence of Bae Jongin, the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of North Macedonia.

President Pendarovski, in his address at the ceremony of presenting the letters of credence, said that with the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2019, significant opportunities for advancement of cooperation in all areas of common interest have opened up for the two friendly countries, and, at the same time, he emphasized our interest in strengthening the economic ties, but also the cooperation in the field of culture, education, science, tourism. The President said that today, the Republic of North Macedonia and the Republic of Korea share and stand for the same values of democracy and functional multilateralism. He pointed out that the appreciation of human rights and freedoms, peace and stability, are values that are deeply engraved in the collective memory of our peoples and added that this creates excellent foundations for further deepening of ties, regardless of the geographical distance between the two countries.

In his address, the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, Bae Jongin, said that the common commitment to democratic values is a solid basis for intensifying cooperation between the two countries and expressed hope for strengthening economic ties in the fields of trade, investment, automotive industry, energy and advanced technology. He said that initial steps have already been taken, citing as an example the joint project between the customs services, while expressing hope for implementation of similar projects next year, using them as a foundation for improving relations. Ambassador Jongin said that he will place increased emphasis on the promotion of Korean culture in the Republic of North Macedonia and announced the opening of an Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Korea in Skopje, which he said will play a key role in strengthening bilateral relations.

President Pendarovski wished Ambassador Jongin success in carrying out his responsible mission and expressed his confidence that in the performance of his diplomatic duties he will enjoy full support from our state institutions.
