A constitutive session of the new composition of the Pardoning Commission was held today in the Cabinet of the President, after President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova made a decision on the composition and appointment of the Commission’s president and members.
Dr. Milka Ristova has been appointed as the President of the Pardoning Commission, while Prof. Dr. Oliver Bacanovic, Prof. Dr. Aleksandra Gruevska Drakulevski, Prof. Dr. Blerta Ahmedi, Prof. Dr. Dragana Batic, Prof. Dr. Afet Mamuti and Doan Sulejmanoski, MA have been appointed as members.
The first session of the new composition of the Pardoning Commission was attended by President Siljanovska Davkova, who wished the members of the Commission successful work, expressing confidence that the Commission, with its work, respecting the principles of transparency and accountability, fairness and equality, humanity and understanding, will contribute to strengthening institutional trust, and the decisions will be an example of respect for democratic values.
President Siljanovska Davkova, emphasizing her commitment to the rule of law and respect for human rights, stressed the importance of the institution of pardon and the need for the entire procedure not to be subject to daily political squabbles.
She expressed the expectation that all decisions of the Commission will be in accordance with the public interest and social values, and each case will be reviewed with the utmost professionalism, within the framework of a legally established procedure.
