Under the auspices of President Stevo Pendarovski, the exhibition of works by the doyen of Montenegrin and Yugoslav contemporary art of the twentieth century, Petar Lubarda, was opened yesterday evening in the Museum of Contemporary Art.
The exhibition presents for the first time the entire collection of artworks that Lubarda gave to Skopje, as a sign of sympathy and solidarity after the catastrophic earthquake in Skopje in 1963, making it one of the first major donors to the Museum of Contemporary Art.
Lubardaќs collection exhibited in the Museum has a total of 52 works, including 40 paintings in oil on canvas and hardboard, two watercolors and ten drawings covering two and a half decades of his artistic career. Besides the works, archival materials related to his exhibitions and donations are displayed, too.
The exhibition is organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of North Macedonia, the Ministry of Culture and Media of Montenegro, the Embassy of Montenegro and the Museum of Contemporary Art.
