President Stevo Pendarovski received the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, who is visiting the Republic of North Macedonia.
The meeting discussed the process of the country’s accession negotiations for membership in the European Union, the current political developments in North Macedonia and the latest developments in the region.
In that direction, information was exchanged about the next stages in the negotiations after the completion of the screening process and the dynamics of the implementation of the reforms.
The meeting also discussed the upcoming report of the European Commission on the progress of North Macedonia as a candidate country, as well as the Western Balkans Growth Plan, whereas President Pendarovski thanked for the support and commitment of the European Union to the policy of enlargement and integration of the countries of the Western Balkans.
At the meeting, opinions were exchanged about the strategic importance of implementing the amendments to the Constitution and the future implications regarding the European perspective of the country.
