President Stevo Pendarovski received today the Letters of Credence of Elita Kuzma, the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia to the Republic of North Macedonia.
President Pendarovski, in his address at the ceremony of presenting the credentials, pointed out that the two countries nurture friendly and partnership relations, with closeness and trust established as a constant in relations. He said that the Republic of Latvia is an important partner of the Republic of North Macedonia and expressed his conviction that successful period awaits both countries for further improvement of cooperation, both bilaterally and multilaterally. President Pendarovski, expressing great gratitude for Latvia’s unreserved and loud support for Macedonian European integration, said that the entry of North Macedonia, as well as the other countries from the Western Balkans into the Union, will further stabilize the situation in the region, which for many years has been the target of influences from the countries which do not share the common values of democracy and added that our country attaches great importance to the strong partnership relations cultivated within NATO, especially at a time when we are facing serious global security challenges.
Ambassador Elita Kuzma said in her speech that Latvia highly values strong and friendly relations and dialogue with North Macedonia and assessed that the two nations nurture a strong friendship based on mutual trust and respect. She pointed out that cooperation takes place both bilaterally and multilaterally, as proven partners in the European Union and NATO. Ambassador Kuzma said that Latvia supports further progress in the process of accession negotiations, appreciating full compliance with the EU’s common foreign and security policy. She expressed willingness to continue providing expertise and practical support, including ongoing training of professionals on European law and economics, and welcomed the ongoing efforts made by North Macedonia in the direction of European integration.
President Pendarovski wished Ambassador Kuzma a successful performance of her important, noble and responsible office.
