The President of the Republic of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, received today Mladen Cadikovski, President of the Association of Journalists of Macedonia
The meeting focused on the challenges faced by media workers in the Republic of North Macedonia and it was concluded that the joint commitment of both the state and the media should be provision of fundamental rights and freedoms of journalists in view of full implementation of the professional standards in reporting, as well as protection of the dignity and integrity of the journalistic profession.
President Pendarovski, expressing his support for the Association, as the oldest association in the country and a member of the International Federation of Journalists, stressed that transparency is a major imperative and one of the basic principles of democracy in every country.
Therefore, he stressed, in the past period after assuming the office of President, his Cabinet is striving to establish an open, direct communication with the media and expects them to be active player and corrective of all social processes in North Macedonia.
The two interlocutors agreed that it is necessary to accelerate the constitution of the new composition of the Agency for Audio and Audiovisual Media Services, as well as the Program Council of the Public Broadcasting Service MRT in the direction of the reform processes in the media field in the country.
