President Stevo Pendarovski visited today the municipality of Gevgelija, as part of the “Face to Face with the President” project.
During his stay, President Pendarovski visited the newly built building of the municipal organization of the Red Cross, which covers the territories of the municipalities of Gevgelija, Bogdanci and Dojran. At the meeting with the professional service and volunteers, he was informed about their program priorities and activities with a focus on social-humanitarian and health-preventive activities, blood donation, dissemination, first aid and young people.
In the Red Cross Gevgelija, the President met with Dr. Mihajlo Balamovski, the first transfusion doctor in the region and author of the monograph “On Blood Donation, the Red Cross and humanity in Gevgelija”, and he also spoke with Nikola CiriC, a blood donor since 1974 with more of 100 donations, and with the youngest volunteer, 14-year-old Martina Angelkova.
Congratulating on the continued high motivation of the municipal organization, the President expressed satisfaction with the solidarity and responsibility of all those involved in humanitarian activities, contributing to the well-being of our society.
At the Cultural Center in Gevgelija, President Pendarovski met with representatives of the NGO Changemakers4all, who informed him about the current projects, as well as the challenges they face in achieving their goals, primarily aimed at environmental protection, tourism promotion , the development of agriculture and freedom of speech.
President Pendarovski expressed satisfaction that the association unites citizens with different fields of interest, directing their knowledge and capacities towards the development of collective consciousness, as a key prerequisite for encouraging positive processes in the environment they live in.
In Gevgelija, President Pendarovski visited Martina Stojchevska, owner of a business for organizing events, decorating and making gifts. The young entrepreneur shared her experiences about its establishment in extremely specific conditions imposed by the pandemic. President Pendarovski congratulated the creativity and successful business story, established with the help of a grant from the Self-Employment Program, implemented by the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy and the Employment Agency with the support of UNDP.
In the Workers’ University “Cyril and Methodius”, President Pendarovski reviewed the collection of the graphic colony “Gevgelija”, founded in the distant 1980, as the only one of its kind on the territory of the former Yugoslavia. During the visit, the President talked with the artist Atanas Krstov about the meaning of graphic expression, as well as about the complex process of creating such works.
