President Stevo Pendarovski received today the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of the State of Qatar, Khalid bin Mohammed Al Attiyah.
The meeting expressed satisfaction with the positive trend in the development of political dialogue and bilateral relations between the two countries, and considered the possibilities for intensifying defense cooperation with Qatar.
President Pendarovski welcomed Qatar’s constructive policy in maintaining regional stability and their role in promoting global security and expressed support for Qatar’s activities under the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative.
Moreover, the President thanked for the support provided by Qatar during the evacuation of Macedonian citizens from Afghanistan, as well as for the demonstrated solidarity and assistance in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic.
In the context of defense, opportunities were presented to deepen cooperation through joint military training and investment in infrastructure projects, and readiness was expressed to enhance cooperation in the fight against global threats, terrorism, cyber defense, dealing with hybrid attacks and fake news.
The interlocutors pointed out that the key interest for the development of bilateral relations, for full utilization of economic potentials and implementation of specific projects, is further improvement of the legal framework between the two countries.
At the meeting, opinions were exchanged on the developments in the two regions, on the current developments in Ukraine and the security situation on the European continent.
