President Stevo Pendarovski received today the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, who is paying a visit to the Republic of North Macedonia.
President Pendarovski expressed gratitude for this visit and for the personal engagement of the President of the European Commission and the commitment to the Western Balkan countries.
The interlocutors exchanged views and information on the latest developments related to our European integration and concluded that the start of accession negotiations between North Macedonia and the European Union will further intensify the reform process and enable economic and social progress.
President Pendarovski stressed the importance of the European Commission’s support in the context of European solidarity for the inclusion of the region in all European Union-led initiatives, as well as for mitigating the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The interlocutors also discussed the latest developments in the region as well as the economic-investment plan of the European Union for the Western Balkan countries.
