President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova met today with members of the Vrelo Cave Diving Club, where they discussed the importance of research, protection and promotion of natural resources, as part of the national identity and heritage.
The cave divers introduced the President to the specifics of the activity, the development of the club and their underwater research to date, presenting part of their impressive video archive. They emphasized the fruitful international cooperation with top divers and experts, as an important prerequisite for achieving significant results.
Particular attention was paid to the recent expedition to the Vrelo cave, where Polish diver Bartlomiej Pytala explored it to a record 287 meters, making this natural treasure among the deepest underwater caves explored by man, not only in Europe, but also worldwide.
The interlocutors agreed that Vrelo is one of the most unique natural treasures, of which we are rightly proud.
Siljanovska-Davkova pointed out the need for its proper protection and promotion as a rare tourist attraction.
The conversation raised questions related to the upcoming expeditions, with the cave divers pointing out the challenges they face, especially in terms of technical assumptions, complex organization and the need for continuous institutional and financial support.
The President expressed admiration for their curiosity, courage and dedication, assessing that they are not only explorers of unknown depths, but also people who push the boundaries of human possibilities.
According to her, such success stories deserve greater attention, affirmation and support, as an example of perseverance, high professionalism and a responsible attitude towards the Macedonian priceless natural treasures.
