At the People’s Office in Skopje, President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova met today with representatives of the Association of War Veterans and War Invalids “Bratstvo 2001”.
The meeting was attended by Vlado Tomeski, President of the Association, Petar Jancevski, Miki Ristovski and Sasko Golubovski.
According to them, the Law on the Special Rights of Members of the Security Forces of the Republic of Macedonia and Their Family Members, since 2002, has been selectively applied by institutions at the central and local levels.
Therefore, they face discrimination in the exercise of legally established rights related to employment, promotion, free health services and free university education for their children.
They informed the President that even legally binding court rulings issued in their favor are not being implemented.
Representatives of the Association of War Veterans and War Invalids “Bratstvo 2001” pointed out the need to amend and supplement the law on their special rights, in order to specify the solutions and improve their benefits.
According to Siljanovska-Davkova, the indications and remarks of the veterans deserve due attention from the competent institutions, as well as respect for the equal application of the law for all.
She promised that the Cabinet will inform the competent authorities about the presented problems, pointing out the necessity of respecting and implementing the Law on the Special Rights of Members of the Security Forces of the Republic of Macedonia and their Family Members, as well as the verdicts.
For the President, the contribution of the veterans must not be forgotten or neglected, but must be respected and valued.
